Ekspress Grupp acquires traffic learning platform Liikluslab

The leading Baltic media group AS Ekspress Grupp is acquiring a 100% shareholding in the traffic learning platform Liikluslab Baltic OÜ. The transaction supports Ekspress Grupp’s long-term objective to increase digital services and revenues, and creates an opportunity to expand into new business areas.

Liikluslab has created Estonia’s largest comprehensive digital ecosystem in the field of driving and traffic education, offering learning materials and IT solutions to both driving students, instructors, and driving schools. The company has partnership agreements with almost all major Estonian driving schools, a total of nearly 200 partners across Estonia. Liikluslab’s platform has approximately 200,000 users.

“The acquisition of Liikluslab is a logical next step in expanding Ekspress Grupp’s digital portfolio. Liikluslab has achieved a strong position in its field and has significant growth potential both in Estonia and internationally. We see opportunities to use the group’s experience and resources for the company’s further development,” said Karl Anton, member of the Management Board and Development Director of Ekspress Grupp.

Following the transaction, Liikluslab Baltic OÜ will continue to operate as an independent company within the Ekspress Grupp group. The company will continue to be managed by current CEO Richard Tuisk together with his team. The company was sold by Estonian private individuals who will step back from the company’s operations going forward.

“Joining Ekspress Grupp gives us the opportunity to develop the platform: we can use the group’s resources and capabilities in functions supporting the core business, such as IT development, marketing, and customer service. For our customers and partners, nothing will change on a daily basis after the transaction – we will continue with our current portfolio of services,” said Richard Tuisk, CEO of Liikluslab.

According to the purchase and sale agreement, the transaction price and other terms are confidential. The transaction will be completed during 2025 and will be partially financed by a bank loan from SEB Bank.

Liikluslab Baltic OÜ is a traffic learning materials e-platform (liikluslab.ee) founded in 2019, which has rapidly expanded and offers services to both individuals and driving schools across Estonia. Liikluslab Baltic has two subsidiaries: the traffic learning environment Teooria OÜ (teooria.ee) and Liikluslab Tervis OÜ, which deals with health certificates for driver’s license applicants.

AS Ekspress Grupp is the leading Baltic media group whose key activities include web media content production, and publishing of newspapers, magazines, and books. The group also operates an electronic ticket sales platform and ticket sales offices, and offers digital outdoor screen services in Estonia and Latvia. In addition, the group’s companies organize conferences, trainings, and events mainly in Estonia and Lithuania, but also in Latvia. Ekspress Grupp launched its operations in 1989 and employs about 1,000 people.
