Ekspress Grupp appoints Liina Liiv as new CEO

The supervisory board of AS Ekspress Grupp, the leading media group in the Baltics, has appointed Liina Liiv as the company’s new board member and chief executive officer. She brings extensive experience in business development, marketing, and communications management from international companies.

The supervisory board of Ekspress Grupp appointed Liina Liiv as a member of the board starting December 1, 2025, for a five-year term. From January 1, 2026, she will also assume the position of CEO and chair of the management board.

Liina Liiv has over 15 years of experience in business development, strategic marketing, and communications, with a strong background in managing international teams. She has worked in various positions at Tele2 Estonia and led OlyBet Group’s international marketing team. In recent years, Liina Liiv worked in the Czech Republic, leading marketing, sales, and business development teams in Europe and the Middle East at the international innovation and business growth company Creative Dock Group. Subsequently, she was responsible for the company’s performance, KPI systems, and efficiency. Liina Liiv holds a master’s degree in communications management from the University of Tartu.

“Liina Liiv’s diverse experience in both Estonian and international business brings added value to Ekspress Grupp’s development,” said Ülar Maapalu, chair of Ekspress Grupp’s supervisory board.

Mari-Liis Rüütsalu, the current CEO and chair of the board of Ekspress Grupp, will step down on December 31, 2025, when her final four-year term ends. Rüütsalu worked at Ekspress Grupp for 13 years, the last 9 as chair of the board. From January 1, 2026, the board of Ekspress Grupp will continue with the following composition: Liina Liiv (chair of the board), chief development officer Karl Anton, and chief financial officer Rain Sarapuu.

AS Ekspress Grupp is the leading media group in the Baltics, whose activities include online media content production and the publishing of newspapers, magazines, and books. The group also manages an electronic ticket sales platform and ticket sales locations, and provides digital outdoor screen services in Estonia and Latvia. In addition, the group’s companies organize conferences, training sessions, and events primarily in Estonia and Lithuania, but also in Latvia. Ekspress Grupp began its operations in 1989 and employs approximately one thousand people.
